Greens for Good

Sustainable Renton’s Greens for Good program launched in May of 2025 and has played a vital role in promoting sustainability across Renton by reducing food waste, supporting local agriculture, and building community resilience. We’re supporting local growers at the Renton Farmer’s Market by purchasing surplus produce that might otherwise go to waste. We redirect this fresh, nutritious food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity through mutual aid programs all around Renton.

Our mission is to rescue as much surplus and unsold food as possible—keeping it out of landfills—while ensuring that local farmers are still paid fairly for their unsold products. Each year, millions of pounds of perfectly good produce are wasted in the United States due to cosmetic standards, distribution challenges, and market fluctuations. By bridging the gap between farms and communities in need, Greens for Good is able to reduce food waste, support sustainable agriculture, and provide fresh, healthy food to households who need it most. We’re committed to creating a more equitable and sustainable food system—and we believe in the power of community to drive meaningful change.

Our mission is simple:
• Reduce food waste
• Support local farmers
• Feed our neighbors
