Are you looking for a way to get involved in your community? Do you care about the environment and building community and equity in Renton? Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, and we would love to have you join our crew!

Please read below for specific ways that you can volunteer with our organization. Whether you have a little or a lot of time, we have so many ways to get involved!

Volunteer Opportunities

In 2025, Sustainable Renton rescued over 150,000 pounds of food from the landfill! This food was given out to the community through free pantries, meal programs, and food banks, thanks to the essential volunteers who made this possible!

We have volunteer opportunities to help glean, sort, and distribute this rescued food to help fight food insecurity.

Join us at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church every week to help us sort through our rescued food before it goes out to feed families in our community!

We need many hands to ensure that the food we provide to our neighbors is of good quality. All discarded food will be used as animal feed or compost. Help us towards our mission of no food wasted and no bellies empty!
No experience needed!
Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Come help us pick up food and make deliveries! You’ll be riding along with our driver as they pick up from grocery stores and deliver to food pantries and meal programs.

Volunteers must be able to lift 50 pounds and easily step in and out of our cargo van.
This role is suited well for someone who enjoys moderate manual labor and interacting with our service partners with a positive attitude!
